Winery & Vintage Info

Deen De Bortoli was one of true visionaries of the Australian wine industry. He was at the forefront of innovation and made wine for the people. The Deen Vat Series range is a true reflection and tribute to Deen himself.

The majority of the fruit for the 2017 Deen Vat 9 Cabernet is grown at De Bortoli's own Victorian vineyards; Freemans Bridge located in the Northern parts of Heathcote (69%) along with Dixons Creek and Brooklands vineyards located in the Yarra Valley (31%). The Heathcote region had an early start to the vintage. Lovely warm growing conditions with a timely rain event in late January keeping the vines hydrated and healthy. Yields were relatively normal, and in the Yarra Valley a very early season with timely rainfall produced lovely flavours with generosity of fruit.

Fruit is picked and fermented in small Potter fermenters for 6-7 days. The wine is then pressed, settled and matured in a combination of New and used American oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. Enjoy now or with good cellaring will continue to develop nicely for the next 5 to 8 years. Winery Notes
