Dominique Portet Brut Rosé NV is a graceful traditional method sparkling rosé from the Upper Yarra Valley — delicate, lively, and beautifully poised, with rose petal, wild strawberry, and a silken mousse carrying through to a long, mineral finish. French elegance and Yarra clarity in every glass. Awarded 94 points by James Halliday.
Appearance
Lively pink, radiant and inviting — the delicate, luminous colour of a traditional method Yarra Valley sparkling rosé crafted from MV6 Pinot Noir and I10V5 Chardonnay grown at altitude, with the clarity and finesse that 24 months on lees and a gentle 5g/L dosage deliver.
Aroma
Rose petal, wild strawberry, and citrus blossom underpinned by hints of fresh pastry — the delicate, expressive bouquet of a sparkling rosé anchored by the 2023 vintage and enriched by 15% reserve wines reaching back to 2013. Fresh red fruits of every description dancing around the bouquet, as James Halliday noted — and the quiet maturity that a decade of reserve wines adds.
Palate
Graceful and poised — red berry fruit lifted by fine acidity and a silken mousse, carrying through to a long, mineral finish. Delicate, lively, and beautifully balanced, with the French elegance and Yarra clarity that only Upper Yarra fruit grown at altitude on 25-year-old vines can deliver. “A totally delicious and elegantly poised wine.” — James Halliday, 94 Points.
Pairs With
Fresh oysters, lobster, salmon, soft cheeses, and delicate canapés — or simply as the most elegant apéritif for any celebration that deserves a sparkling rosé of genuine distinction. The silken mousse, fine acidity, and long mineral finish make Dominique Portet Brut Rosé a natural and deeply satisfying partner for the finest food at the table.
Reviews
“A totally delicious and elegantly poised wine, with fresh red fruits of every description dancing around on the bouquet and palate alike, the finish harmonious.”
94 Points — James Halliday

Winemaking Notes
55% Pinot Noir (MV6, for fragrance and shape) and 45% Chardonnay (I10V5, for finesse, brightness, and mineral drive) — handpicked from elevated Upper Yarra vineyards at 250 metres on 25-year-old vines, gently pressed and fermented before secondary fermentation in bottle. Aged for a minimum of 24 months on lees in cool, temperature-controlled cellars, then disgorged and given a gentle dosage of 5g/L prior to release. Anchored by the 2023 vintage — a year of freshness, clarity, and poise — with 15% reserve wines woven in, reaching back a decade to 2013 for layers of complexity and quiet maturity.
Vintage Conditions
The Upper Yarra is the source of this Brut Rosé NV — a sub-region celebrated for its altitude, cool nights, and long, even ripening season. The 2023 vintage anchor delivered wines of freshness, clarity, and poise, with abundant warm days, cool nights, and very little rain allowing the fruit to ripen gradually with excellent flavour development and balanced sugars and acids. The 15% reserve wines, reaching back to 2013, add the layers of complexity and quiet maturity that a decade of careful cellaring delivers.
Producer History
Dominique Portet was born into one of France’s most celebrated winemaking dynasties — his father André Portet managed Château Lafite for 25 years, and his brother Bernard founded Clos du Val in Napa Valley. Dominique arrived in the Yarra Valley in 1976 as founding winemaker at Taltarni, and established his own eponymous winery in 2000. The Brut Rosé is the fullest expression of that French heritage applied to Yarra Valley terroir — traditional method precision, Upper Yarra altitude, and the clarity and finesse that only a lifetime of sparkling wine expertise can produce. French elegance, Yarra clarity. In every bubble.
